Not advice

Where we stop, and why.

Bernwy shows you information and does arithmetic on assumptions you chose. It won’t recommend a product, rank your options, or tell you what to do. That line is deliberate, and it is not moving.

The distinction

Information tells you where you are

Advice tells you what to do about it. The first needs your numbers. The second needs your tax position, your family, your health, your appetite for risk and your plans for the next decade — and a qualified human who is accountable for the answer.

What we say

“You’re £340 a month short of the target you set.”

What we won’t say

“Increase your contributions.” “Sell the flat.” “This one first.” The gap is a fact. The remedy is a judgement about your life.

What we say

“At 5.6% this payment rises by £368 a month.”

What we won’t say

“Fix for five years.” “This lender is cheapest.” We don’t hold product data, and we’re not building a comparison site by the back door.

What we say

“Selling this one releases £96,000 and removes £540 of monthly income.”

What we won’t say

“Sell this one.” We’ll show every property’s contribution side by side and leave them unranked, because ranking is a recommendation wearing a chart.

Nobody pays us but you

Three rules that make the line hold

A boundary only survives if the business model doesn’t push against it. Ours is built so that showing you the truth is the only thing we get paid for.

No commission, ever

No lender, insurer or broker pays us. Nothing appears in the product because someone wanted it seen. Subscriptions are how we are paid.

You set the assumptions

We never fill in a growth rate or a future interest rate for you. If we chose the assumption, we’d be steering the conclusion.

No user classification

Nothing in the product records you as sophisticated, experienced, cautious or adventurous. Those labels exist to justify selling people different things.

What this is for

Turn up to the meeting already informed

Brokers, accountants and planners do things software can’t. They know the products, they carry the liability, and they can hold your whole situation at once.

What they can’t do is keep your numbers current between meetings. A client who arrives knowing their balances, their dates and their options gets a better conversation, because it starts further along.

Take it with you

Export the whole position as a pack: every property, every mortgage, the dates, the assumptions you used and what you modelled. Hand it to whoever you’re seeing.

Most advisers spend the first meeting assembling exactly this. Arriving with it done is worth more than anything else in the product.
